Explore the world of paddle sports with us! Experience a taste of sprint & recreational canoe/kayak, outrigger canoe, and dragon boat. Learn the 'FUN'deamentals to paddle individually and as a part of a team. This is a good introduction to the Club and its' programs. Participants must be able to swim 25m with a PFD or be at Swim Kids Level 4.
Paddle Mania Seniors- Loudon Park, Long Lake & Brechin Paddling dock
Explore the world of paddle sports with us in a low impact & social atmosphere! Experience a taste of recreational canoe & kayak, outrigger canoe, and dragon boat. Learn the ‘FUN’damentals to paddle individually and as part of a team. This is an ideal introduction to the Club & its’ programs. PaddleALL - Loudon Park, Long LakeEnjoy water and the outdoors? Why not try the sport canoe/kayak? Paddle individually and as part of a team in various canoes and kayaks. This adaptive program by CanoeKayak Canada is promoting to individuals with special needs to participate in the sport of Canoe/Kayak. Aides are encouraged for the first few sessions. Participants must be able to swim 25 meters with a PFD or be at Swim Kids Level 4.
Introduction to Outrigger Canoe - Brechin Paddling Dock
Learn the basics necessary to safely and confidently paddle on the waters of Newcastle Channel. Opportunities to try out 6,4,2, and 1 person outrigger canoes and learn more about the club. Instructor: Nanaimo Canoe and Kayak Club.
Aboriginal Paddling Initiative (12-18yrs) - Loudon Park, Long Lake
Interested in canoe/kayak racing and competition at various local and international events? Come try out the sport on Long Lake and devlop your skills to paddle single, double, 4, and 14 person racing boats with confidence. This sport was a demostration sport at Cowichan's 2008 North American Indigenous Games. No paddling experience necessary, however, participants must be able to swim 25 metres with a PFD or be at Swim Kids Level 4.
Youth BIG Boats - CanoeKayak (10 - 18 yrs)- Loudon Park, Long LakeCome out and paddle the Club’s big boat’s including: voyageur, war canoe, dragon boat, and double/four person sprint kayaks and canoes! Team boats encourage social, physical and emotional well being – learn balance, teamwork, paddling strokes and technique, and attend a few races to practice your new skills!! Health, well-being and fun are the key outcomes of this program on beautiful Long Lake. (Participants must be able to swim 25m with a PFD or be at Swim Kids Level 4).
Flatwater Sprint Canoe-Kayak Program ( 10-15yrs)- Loudon Park, Long LakeEnjoy water sports, the outdoors and meeting new people? The sport of canoe/kayak may be for you! Develop the 'FUN'damental sports skills to paddle confidently on the waters of Long Lake. Discover the joy of paddling a single, double and four person boat while developing balance, propulsion, and boat control. This is suitable for anyone interested in gaining new skills and gaining confidence on the water or joining the Club's Sprint Development Team. Participants must be able to swim 25m with a PFD or be at Swim Kids Level 4.
