On Sunday June 1st, from 7 in the morning until 7 at night, athletes from NCKC & Nanaimo Rowing Club will be rowing, kayaking, canoeing and paddling their way to a $10,000 goal, raising funds for a new Community Boathouse and training facility at Long Lake Beach.
This year’s Paddle-a-thon will kick off with a pancake breakfast and include an open house and BBQ with lots of action on the lake. Alberni Outpost will be there too with over 100 different kayaks, paddleboards and canoes on site for you to try between 10am and 4pm. They’ll also be hosting workshops and lessons throughout the day. So come down to Loudon Park, cheer on the athletes, and enjoy a fine paddle-a-thon day at the beach. Or better yet, register for the Paddle-a-thon and help get that new boathouse for Nanaimo!
All participating athletes are setting their own goals for the event, choosing to cover a certain distance, paddle or row for a set number of hours or achieve a new personal best time.
To register yourself, your child or your team, visit the Paddle-a-thon site at bcpaddleathon.ca/nckc, and click on “Paddler Registration” to create your own page with your goals that you can share with friends and family.
