Paddle for fun, fitness and friendships!
Starting on April 19, join us on the water on Tues/Thurs at 6:00-7:45pm and Sat from 10am-12 to learn a new sport, make new friends, and have fun doing so! The program will teach paddlers the fundamental sport skills for canoe-kayak, including: balance, propulsion and boat control.
Paddlers will start in recreational canoes & kayaks and transition into sprint racing canoes.
Tryouts for the Zone 6 Island Team for the 2022 BC Summer Games will be hosted on June 5 at Long Lake and the BC Cup Regatta on June 18/19 where paddlers can experience racing as part of a team.
Financial assistance is available to those who are new to Canada, low income or identify as Indigenous.

Paddlers from this program have the opportunity to transition into the Youth Sprint Canoe-Kayak Team starting in July if they wish to.
Teens in Team Boats Paddling Camp
July 4-8 1:30-4:30 pm
Fee: $150 (+ $25 Membership)
Teens (13-17yrs) will paddle a number of different recreational and racing canoes & kayaks throughout the week to develop balance, propulsion, and boat control on the water.
Paddlers will be in and out of the water as they develop their skills, so paddlers must be comfortable in, on and around the water during this Camp. In addition to the on water activities, some field games, running, swimming, or circuit training for fitness will be encouraged as well.
Those that complete the camp and are interested may join the Junior Development Team for Sprint Canoe-Kayak that runs throughout July and August with an opportunity to participate in local regattas and training camps.
Annual recreational membership includes mandatory insurance by CanoeKayak BC for on-water activities, a membership to the Long Lake Flatwater Training Centre, voting privileges, and access to Club recreational programs.
