Join the Nanaimo Canoe & Kayak Club at Long Lake to experience FUNdamental paddling skills while using recreational canoes & kayaks and/or the Club’s Big Canoes (Voyageur & Dragon Boat). The learning objectives include water safety awareness, proper use of PFD’s & equipment care, basic paddling strokes, teamwork, environmental stewardship, boating safety, and exposure to a diverse sport that promotes Canada’s Sport for Life philosophy.
WHO: Students in Grades 4 – 12
WHAT: Single or multi-day paddling sessions
WHEN: May & June, either AM or PM sessions (1.5 – 2 hrs)
WHERE: NCKC Boathouse at Loudon Park, Long Lake (4295 Victoria Avenue, Nanaimo)
COST: $20/student, $10/adult for 1st session — $10/student, $5/adult additional session
HOW: Book your session(s) at information@nckc.ca and include the teachers’ name, school, grade,
number of students/adults, three (3) possible dates/times, and any additional learning objectives that you wish to include
Build a memorable and fun year end program that works with your classroom goals.
Book a single session to expose students to the local club and a new sport activity OR schedule weekly sessions as part of your regular delivery of physical education and/or outdoor recreation.
